Why am I not napping?

I sleep more during the day than I do at night, and even when I do sleep it's often not for long and is interrupted. Last night I tried to go to sleep at an almost normal time, but I failed due to waking up after only sleeping a couple hours. I had a weird dream all about escalators. (Some were really fast... which was actually kinda fun.) Anyway, it was the middle of the night so I just decided to stay up so I could go to my staff meeting on time this morning. (Or at all.) I really hope that I can pull it all together and get my internal-clock on a semi-normal regimen within at least a week or so. I have classes at 7:30 am every day this semester. We'll see how that goes...

Anyway, I should be taking a nap right now as that couple of hours of sleep last night is all that I'm running on right now. So... maybe I'll take a nap. Sometime. Possibly soon.

As for law schools: still waiting, sweetheart, just waiting.

Umm... it's frigid. Ok, I'm writing about the weather and I'm seriously struggling to spell... it's definitely time to end this post.

K, bye.

Days of Realization...

I'm having one of those nights where I just can't stop thinking. I hate it! I know I need to sleep, but I just can't bring myself to fall asleep. Anyway, I decided to turn on the ol' laptop and just write myself asleep. I kept thinking of random experiences that I haven't thought about in a long time.

The first was probably the day my mother must have realized that I would be a person that thought I was funny, when I truly wasn't. In my first grade class (Mrs. Peterson's class at Shelley Elementary) we each had to have our parents help us fill out a form about ourselves. We each took turns doing a sort of show-and-tell about ourselves where the teacher read aloud the answers our parents had written in response to the questions on the sheet. I remember clearly that there was this one kid who had scored a big laugh with his answer to the "What's a funny experience you've had?" question. I really wanted to get a big laugh, too. So when my mom asked me, I really wanted her to write about when I had accidentally let one of my shoes float down a river that we were camping by. I was sure it would get laughs. My mom, being the kind lady she is, tried to convince me to go with a different story, but I was determined to get my big laugh from the shoe-mishap. The only thing I remember about the day my sheet was read was that absolutely no one laughed at my story. Ouch.

Another random experience that came to mind was probably the day my mother must have realized that I was kinda prideful. During the summer after 5th grade I went to a summer camp called Clear Creek that is run by my local school district. My mom worked there many summers, including the summer that I attended. It was a fun experience, but I remember feeling a little like I didn't really make very many friends. At the end of the week the counselors and teachers (including my mom) announced those who had won various awards (the most squirrels caught in our coffee-can traps we made, for example; which may sound weird, but that was a highly prestigious award for Clear Creek!) and announced the winners of Mr. and Ms. Clear Creek. The girls all voted for Ms. Clear Creek, and the boys all voted for Mr. Clear Creek. It was supposed to be whoever was friendly, and helpful, bla bla bla. I think you get it. The kind of thing I was ALL about winning at that age. I really didn't expect to win it though. They announced the winners, and alas, I had not won Mr. Clear Creek. So we all packed up and left, and I rode home with my mom instead of riding with the other kids on the bus. As we neared my home town my mom turned to me and said, "Oh, you won Mr. Clear Creek. You tied with the other kid." She handed me the medal. I was shocked, but then my surprise turned to confused anger. My mom had told me in a very matter-of-fact tone, like it wouldn't matter to me. I was very upset that she hadn't announced that I'd tied with the kid in front of the other kids and demanded an explanation. She explained that she didn't think it was a good idea to give it to me because the other kids might think that I just won it because she was a teacher there. I was mad! I wanted my recognition! I now of course can see that she was probably right, and I should have just taken it as a compliment that the other kids had voted for me. But I didn't see all that then.

Another experience that came to mind was the day I think I realized that I would go to great lengths to maintain my ability to procrastinate. I love sleep. I really do. I'm not good at falling asleep, but once I do... oh boy, I take it and RUN with it. (I run in my sleep?) My senior year in high school I had a 12 page research paper due in my English class only about 18 hours after I really started working on it. In what has now become almost a typical fashion for writing papers, I stayed up writing it ALL NIGHT LONG. I didn't sleep at all. I printed it only minutes before leaving for school. I looked even more zombie-ish than usual and had many comments affirming that fact from my friends. I had never done something so crazy on a project so big. But now I almost always count on getting very little sleep the night before a paper is due. (Perhaps that's why it felt appropriate to start writing a LONG entry on my blog tonight?)

Today I kind of came to a realization, too. I realized that while Rand-o-mania set a new record yesterday (according to my Google Analytics) for the most visits in one day for my blog (185), Just Ridiculous Polls had 8 visits yesterday. (5 of which were me.) So, I'm thinking that I may need to just stop posting on there entirely. Or I could just put an occasional random poll on this blog. Anyway, Just Ridiculous Polls is in a sad state, because I've tried really hard to attract traffic to my blogs, but it's only seemingly worked for Rand-o-mania. My one-day record for most visits to Just Ridiculous Polls is 18. Whoohoo. Yeah, I think I overestimated peoples' desire for stupid random polls to grace their lives each day. Or (as proven by the first story) it could just be that I'm not as funny as I think I am and no one wants to visit a blog full of random polls that just don't make sense. Anyway, I'm sure I'll continue it on for a while, but come time for school... Just Ridiculous Polls might go the way of Random Combos and Tiny Observations. (See way old posts in my archives.)

Well, perhaps I could sleep now that I've written a brief novel. K, see ya.

Addition: So the whole stupid whatis230 thing turned out to just be the Chevy Volt, which has already been announced for a long time. What the heck is the deal with the secretive ad campaign??! How obnoxious. Yes it is indeed a car with the potential of getting 230 mpg. Big deal. It will be too expensive for me in the first place I'm sure. That's that.

Firefly and a complete reversal of my life?

Firefly boxset cover.

I doubt most of you have heard of Firefly as it was only on tv for one season, but it was a kick-trash show. I really like it a lot. I've just discovered that all 14 episodes of their only season are available for free on Hulu. (I love Hulu!) Firefly is basically a western set in space. It's really interesting. It's funny, too. My only beef with it is its awful theme song! I would NOT be surprised if it got cancelled ONLY because of the terrible song at the beginning of each episode. It's not awesome. I'm also not a big fan of the space prostitute story line. Ugh. Anyway, if you enjoyed the new Star Trek movie or could see yourself enjoying a random western in space, check this one out. (The movie Serenity also follows the same group of characters, and is pretty cool, itself. But it's been a LONG time since I've seen it.)

I've completely flip-flopped my life! Normally when I post in the AM hours on this blog it's at about 2 or 3 am. Today on the other hand, I'm posting in here at 6 am having just woke up! I went to bed at 9pm for the first time since ... WHO KNOWS WHEN!?!! I never go to bed before midnight these days. So this is weird. I just made myself a morning person. It only took not sleeping at ALL on Sunday night and then being CrAzY tired after work yesterday evening. Now I'm up in the morning and I don't know what to do! It's weird. How do morning people do it? I guess I can keep watching Firefly? K, see ya.

Hallucination Texting and "600 North of Fire"

sleepin with the phone
Originally uploaded by sarahpee
My Fourth of July turned out pretty good. After work I came home and my sister's family, my parents, and my grandma all came over and we ate pizza and had a daytime fireworks show. (Yes, it was all done before it was even dark.) It wasn't a very impressive show, but I had fun lighting the fireworks for my nieces and nephews. It was cool though because we saw the jets and helicopters that were going to The Stadium of Fire the kids liked that. (Despite the fact that they got pretty bored with my lame fireworks, they still seemed fairly entertained.) . I called our awesome show "600 North of Fire." (even though I found out at work that just about everyone anywhere near the actual "Stadium of Fire" calls their family fireworks show something like that. So I'm not very original.)

So, Friday night I did not get very much sleep. Last night I did not get very much sleep. This all adds up to one interesting morning today. So, I had planned to wake up at about 8 am to text some folks in my ward about their home teaching last month. So I remember waking up at 8, but I fell back asleep. Then I woke up at 8:45 am and I was kind of sweaty and felt really hot. I texted my people and fell asleep again. I woke up 15 minutes later and got a text from my pal Julianna. It said, "I don't know what that means...." Hmmm... this made me think that I had texted her accidentally. I looked at my most recent outbound texts and the only one was sent to my cousin and to Julianna and it said, "Alright, can I get the p number on that?" When I saw this I was both highly amused and VERY freaked out. This means that when I thought I was texting the guys about home teaching, I was actually dreaming or hallucinating and I texted my friends with that question which comes from my job where I ask that question about 100 times a day. I really need to get more sleep, or figure out what's wrong with me! (My mom also says that she heard me talking and laughing pretty loud, around that same time... which disturbs me also because I didn't call anyone. Wow.)

Anyway, so that's my tale about sleep-texting.

K, see ya.

I'm nocturnal... time to file-dive!

It's finally happened. The last two nights I couldn't sleep until the sun had started coming up. Isn't that just WRONG?!! I can hear the birds chirping as I'm falling asleep. There's seriously something wrong with me, and I need to reverse my life. I am determined to change and wake up at a semi-normal hour and, more importantly, go to bed at a normal hour! I seriously have been having weird issues from it all. So I'm just announcing it so that you can all help me change.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what would make this blog any better... if any of you have ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Here's a file-diving adventure:

Haha! This is from my "KAVE TV" class in high school. During my senior year all of my friends and I took a film-productions class. This was a simple assignment where we had to come up with a "mockumentary" idea. Here is my idea that I came up with:

Teenage
Hyperactive
Don’t
Wanna
Do
My
Homework
Disorder
“The Story of Jeff Ricks” Have “hidden” cameras on Jeff on a night when he should be doing homework. Show his THDWDMHD in action.(Me going crazy) Have “Professor” say things like: “THDWDMHD is a very rare disorder, in fact, it’s only found in the person of Jeff Ricks.” or... “THDWDMHD is characterized by excessive pen-clicking or spinning.” or... “The subject will try at moments to do his homework, but always the temptation to click the pen takes over, and there ya go. He’s off playing with something or other and acting like an ape. If I didn’t know better I’d say he has the worst case of “the psychotic crazies” in the world. But I know better.”

So that was my great idea. I'm guessing that I wanted to turn my unproductive hyperness into a productive idea and conquer. I really miss that class, it was fun. Anyway, that's all I have for you. I'm watching the Survivor: Tocantins finale.
